Dear Friends and Family,
Hello from Phnom Penh, Cambodia! I hope and pray this update message finds you doing well!
It is hard to believe that we have been back in Cambodia for almost n entire month now! Time is flying by!
On the home front, we have rented a house and gotten our household things out of storage and mostly set back up. As long as it takes to set up house-keeping in the USA during a normal move, it takes even longer in a third world country. Even something as simple as getting an internet connection set up can easily become a multi-day task. But we now have most of that finished and are starting to settle into a bit of a routine at home. Now we are just waiting on our shipment from the US, which should arrive here in the next couple weeks.
On the work front, our office and studio need a good bit of work still. We have things back to a point where we can get some work done, but we still need a pretty good renovation. In the next week or so we will begin that process, and hopefully get through it with a minimum of unforeseen problems.
Please pray for us as we finish settling back in, and pray that our shipment would arrive on time without any difficulties.
One of the first things that came up as we returned to Cambodia was the situation at the Cambodia Community Bible Institute, our distance education program. For a number of years we have worked in cooperation with a number of churches and groups to provide distance education to pastors and lay-leaders around the country. In returning to Cambodia it has presented a natural opportunity for us to re-evaluate this ministry and look at possible ways we might improve the work. We recognize there is definitely still a need for this work, but we want to find ways to connect it more to the Cambodian churches so that it becomes less of a "missionary work" and more a natural part of the local church.
One option that we are excited about is a closer partnership with FEBC Cambodia, a local Christian radio station. By working together we can expand both the range of subjects we offer, and add new locations across the country.
Please pray with us that we would have wisdom in how to make this ministry as effective as possible.
