Monthly E-Mail Update from the Tabor Family for January, 2006

Dear Friends and Family,

Hello from Cambodia!  I hope and pray this finds you all doing well!

The Movie Project Is Moving Forward

We have recently been in discussions again about the evangelistic film project we are planning.  It started with a call from our partners in the Philippines.  They wanted to know where we were in the whole process.  After communicating to them our commitment to doing the film, we ended up in more detailed discussions about what this film would end up looking like.

Here in Cambodia we have to deal with government sensors, so one question is how overtly Christian can we make it?  In the end, we decided to go with a story that is not overtly evangelistic, but designed in such a way as to address some of the key obstacles most people face in coming to Christ, and can be used one on one by believers as an effective bridge to sharing the gospel with their friends (for a detailed discussion of why we decided to go that direction, check out our blog at www.taborfocus.com).  Now we are looking at three different story ideas.  One is a story of a boy and his father (highlighting how we often misunderstand God’s purposes in our lives).  One is a love story of a girl who makes some bad decisions (highlighting God’s redemptive love for us).  And the third is more of an action / comedy treasure hunt story (highlighting the false assumption that all roads lead to God).  One of these ideas is likely to become the film, but it could also be something completely different.  That’s where your prayers come in.  Please pray for God’s leading and direction as we develop and choose the story and subject for the film.

The New Web-Site Has MORE New Stuff!

Our new web-site seems to be a big hit!  We have had loads of very positive comments, and it has been a big help in giving churches a clearer picture of our ministry.

We continue to update the site on a regular basis.  We have just added a new video on our Christian media production company, gen-X, a new podcast interview with Russ Turney, Asia-Pacific regional director for Assemblies of God World Missions, and more!  Check it out at

Furlough Is Closer Each Day!

Furlough is only about five months away!  Although I have a number of services scheduled, I am still spending about one night each week calling churches in the states trying to schedule services.

The other issue we are trying to work out is the logistics of moving from one country to another.  We are still looking for a car, and now, although we thought we had our housing settled, we have just found out that we don’t have a place to stay for the first two weeks we are back in June.  So now we have to decide if we want to find another house in the area for those two weeks, or if we want to go to another state during that time.

I’m sure all of these details will work out in God’s timing, but for the moment it is one more thing that can be a bit stressful.  Pray that God would help us finalize all these details.
