Monthly E-Mail Update from the Tabor Family for March, 2010

Dear Friends and Family,

Hello from Cambodia!  I hope and pray this message finds you all doing well.  Time has been going by quickly as we get ready for our upcoming furlough.  These past few months have been some of the busiest we have had here in a long time.

Video Work Takes Us Throughout the Region

In the past few months we have been traveling to the various countries in our region to produce videos to help the work there.  We have spent time working in Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar.  This work helps our entire team in the region continue to work by helping to raise prayer support and financial support for their ministries.  At the same time we are hoping to help these countries develop media ministry opportunities and workers as well.

You can see some of the videos we have been working on our Facebook  page.  You can check them out by using the links below.

Please pray with us that God would continue to raise up new missionaries to work in our region, and that these video projects would help those missionaries currently raising support in the USA to get to the field as quickly as possible.

Nara & Grandpa Choy Nearly Finished!

One of the other major projects we are trying to complete before we leave for furlough is the new series of Nara and Grandpa Choy radio programs and Sunday School curriculum.  Originally based on the Dan & Louis children’s programs produced by Dan Betzer, Nara and Grandpa Choy has grown into its own distinctive Cambodian program.  This current run will consist of 26 new episodes of the program, and 26 weeks of corresponding Sunday School lessons specifically targeted to ground Cambodia’s children in the Word of God.

There is an incredible need here for effective discipleship material, especially for children.  Working with a number of missionaries over a period of a couple years we have designed the program to address some of the key issues faced by Christians in a Cambodian / Buddhist culture.

We have been working on this project for a long time and are excited to see it finally nearing completion.  As this message goes out some of the early lessons in the series are being tested at churches in the area to help us make the final product as useful as possible.  You can see a detailed overview of this project, as well as pictures that go with it at our website.  Just follow the link below;

There are two ways you can help us with this project.  First, we are raising money to help cover the cost of production and distribution of the finished lessons.  The breakdown of the cost comes out that for about $60 we can give a Cambodian church 6 months of targeted Sunday School material.  When the final production run is finished, we hope to have 1000 copies available.  If you would like to help with the cost of this project, please e-mail us and we can give you the specifics on how to get the funds here.  Second, please pray with us that God would continue to bless and anoint this project as we try to finish initial production before our scheduled furlough in June.

Back to the USA in June

Finally, we are also in the process of planning our upcoming deputation year in the USA to raise funds for our next term.  We are currently scheduling services and making plans for our time there.  This includes scheduling services, finding housing and transportation in the states, packing up and moving out of our house here and moving into storage, making plans for our children’s schooling, and much more.  It is a major transition for our entire family.  Please pray with us as we continue to make plans.
